This festival is a great 'thing' for our WHOLE region - our local council should be encouraging, promoting and supporting Initiatives that bring diversity AND money to our precious and viciously draught affected Mallee!

I have been attending this festival for 10 years, I have brought my parents, my children and all my friends. This is a community based event. It bring all different kinds of people out of the city and back into the natural. I support Maitraya and believe it is important to keep this festival running and allow people to really be free.

Festivals that nurture creativity for artists and provide a space for the public to let go and be inspired are so important to keep...these spaces allow everyone to co create together, to experience a greater sense of togetherness and freedom that is so vital to the health of a society and needs to be supported not defamed

Surely the risks associated with the festival can be mitigated.
It's 2016, there's plenty of ways to ensure this can be the best festival yet!

This festival is a unique forum for expressing art and individuality. I am a sculptor who gets amazing world wide exposure through festivals such as this. Please allow this freedom of expression and invention to continue.

The shire should be honoured to have been approached to host the 10th anniversary of such a cultural gem and complex logistical event driven by the community that is honestly up there with the cream of the crop amongst some of the top festivals in the world - Maitreya nurtures community, diversity, culture, arts, healing and spiritual connectedness - not to mention the appreciation for nature and music local talent and produce - and each other!! To deny this is to deny the birthright of many to enjoy life and this beautiful country, this miracle we inhabit - We reserve the right to dance under the stars, away from the chaos of suburbia - to connect with mother earth and our inner selves and as well to help build the economy of the local town, we reserve the right to heal and to love and share our love with your community and we welcome you to do the same - allow us this magical event that so many cherish and there will be no regrets.

I have been going to Maitraya for years and have had such a wonderful time and met so many amazing people from all over the world. Think of all the people that are flying from interstate and overseas, think of all the locals that get much needed income from the festival. Stop being the fun police
