We call on Caerphilly County Borough Council to reconsider their decision to reject the application for a Morrisons supermarket to be sited at the former Focus unit at Blackwood Gate retail park.

We consider this development to be vital to creating employment opportunities for residents of Blackwood, Pontllanfraith and the surrounding areas, particularly at a time of recession and high unemployment.

We are appalled by the apparently thoughtless attitude of some local councillors who have failed to consider their constituents' demand for local job opportunities.
