The state senate finally folded and passed S95 because they knew we were not going to stop. We forced them to admit that plastic pollution is a death sentence for our environment. Stay sharp because we need to make sure they actually follow through on these new rules.

We, the undersigned, support the passage of NY State Senate Bill S95. The purpose of this bill is to reduce plastic waste and pollution. By banning plastic carry out bags and placing a ten cent fee on paper and reusable carry out bags provided by the store, we will not only protect our environment, the fees collected will help fund pollution reduction, cleanup, education, and the purchasing and distribution of reusable bags.

I wholeheartedly support this bill. Nassau County is way behind the times when it comes to restricting the use of plastic. New York City and Suffolk County are at least charging for plastic bags.
Plastic waste and pollution has become a big problem. This is a small but meaningful step to live cleaner and smarter. It's time to change our wasteful habits.
Newport RI has this ban and when I asked around at various stores everyone said it has not effected business. I agree with this proposal and hope it passes soon.
This is so important! It's already a law in other states and NY should move toward affirming it's commitment to protect our environment.
I take my reusable bags to the grocery store...and we are working on giving up plastic straws at my house. Thanks for working on this important project!
