We, the undersigned, call upon the governing body of Belle Vue Boys’ School to reject Trust proposals, and keep Belle Vue Boys’ a community school. The reasons the governing body should reject these proposals; 1. The proposed benefits can be achieved without the need for Trust status; there is NO evidence that becoming a Trust School will improve standards. 2. Proposals actively DIVIDE the community, and all schools now have an obligation to PROMOTE community cohesion under the Education Acts. There are valid concerns relating to mixing the school with Belle Vue Girls, Sex Education, Ethos, school admissions, parental choice, corporate involvement in education and how the Trust partners will actually improve the school, proposals do not indicate sufficient solutions to any of them. 3. Proposals also remove responsibility from the LEA, and provide scope for biased decision making by the Trust; The Trust will elect the majority of Governors on the Governing Body and will therefore be able to manipulate decisions.
