The Department of Transport and Main Roads has confirmed that the bus stops at the Douglas campus will be reinstated. Thank you for maintaining the pressure required to ensure student safety was prioritized. We will monitor the service closely to verify that these transit points remain functional for our community.
We, the undersigned, insist that the bus stops that have been removed from the surrounds of the James Cook University (Douglas Campus) commencing on the 30th July 2012 be reinstated by Sunbus / Department of Transport and Main Roads. The safety of students should be paramount as well as continued service delivery.
The feedback I continue to receive from students regarding the recent removal of these transit points remains consistent and deeply concerning. I am currently compiling your accounts to present a comprehensive case to the Department of Transport and Main Roads regarding the necessity of restoring these services.

Ridiculous decision. Walking all the way from the new drop off point in the dark is super unsafe for us girls.

What a joke. JCU is huge and people need those stops near the buildings.
