Making this petition to hopefully get a new skatepark in the stony brook - setauket area. For scooters skateboards and bikesAs of now the closest skateparks are over 40 minutes away, one being mastic skatepark and the other being green lawn skatepark. It is very hard for kids to get to those skateparks. There is no way to get to mastic skatepark unless you can drive and even then parents have work and do not want to make the journey, Green lawn as well. Yes you can take the train but It costs alot of money every time and it really hard for parents to keep giving there kids money, and even then It takes around 40 minutes. We can't even ride in our local town without being threatened about being arrested, or being screamed at for doing what we love. Seeing this kind of energy for a local park feels like a total shift in perspective. I remember how many times I was told to pack up my board and leave town, but now it feels like we finally have a path toward a place of our own.

Seeing one hundred people recognize how desperately we need a safe place to ride here is incredible. I started this because I am tired of my friends getting kicked out of parking lots for just trying to practice. We finally have some momentum to show the town board.

Skateparks are important for a community. Not only is it an attraction it is a recreational area for the people who practice the sports involved, without having to go out and vandalize property.
Many children in my town (portjeff) constantly get in trouble with the law for riding there stuff in the village. They also get their stuff stolen alot.
I myself have been harassed and threatened about riding my bike and know for a fact that the children,young adults and hobbyist in the would love a bmx/scooter skate park
I've been skating for a while and the closest skatepark is an hour from my house and it would be sick to be able to ride me bike and go skate with my friends for like 30 minutes or something since that can't happen with no skatepark around.
I would love to have a skatepark here in the setauket/stony brook area because i constantly have to commute and pay money to get the nearest skatepark in Greenlawn

Stony brook is considered a university town having a large number of younger residents hence a skateboard park Could b put to good use and add social value to the Stonybrook and nearby towns
