Life is all about choices. Great choices require knowledge and understanding. A mother's choices regarding her unborn is the launch pad for much if not most of the choices and life experience/expectancy of her children.

Midwives need to reclaim their autonomy in the Caribbean so that they can empower women.

A birthing center offers a woman a valuable choice... one where intimacy, warmth, and genuine personalized care are the daily norm. Only heard good reports about the last center from those who had their babies there. This is a good idea. Good for building the community also! You have my vote and recommendations! Good luck with the project. Will support where I can.

We birthed our two children with the calming guidance of the Family Birthing Centre. Support systems like these need to be available & cherished.

Totally agree with freedom to move in labour, and support especially. Too many women labour in pain due to lack of support and individuals who believe she can do it.

I strongly urge everyone who has the opportunity to vote and support, to do so. Having a birthing center here in Barbados again, WITH THE NECESSARY SUPPORT is exactly what's needed to provide moms with the best birthing experience possible! Wonderful, loving, compassionate, safe atmosphere for baby as well!!! Let's do this!!!

Also need to look at better birthing for teenagers and those women whom for one reason or another could be deemed under privilege.

Let's get back to traditional beginnings. We already knew going back to tradition is how we move forward.

I am excited about the prospect of another birthing centre in Barbados. There should be no debate about the need for an option that empowers expectant mothers and families and lowers the risk of medical issues. I hope that the Ministry of Health recognises all the benefits and comes on board ASAP!!

Women need choices, Not all women are the same. Child rearing needs to be understood and respected.

We are not sick, birthing is what womans bodies are designed to do. I'm sending loving blessings for this birthing center to exist.

The experience I had in 2010 while being cared for during my nine months of pregnancy and after by midwife Kathy Neblett and her team was none like no other, it cannot be compared to any of the horror stories I had been told before being introduced to these beautiful, caring people who I see as family. A natural birth is an experience I think every woman should want since it connects you in a different light with your young. Go BBIM

Wonderful initiative that would give freedom of choice to expecting Mums, to follow what their bodies were blessed to do - deliver in a comfortable and natural way!

Giving birth at the birthing center was the best experience I had after my first experience at the hospital. Women in Barbados need to have the option of choosing how they want to experience birth. Bring back the Birthing center.

My first child was born at a birthing centre under the loving, caring and very professional hands of trained midwife, Kathy Neblett. It was one of the best experiences of my life to date; the ability to have my partner, mother and doula there for support, as per my birth plan, helped make the experience even more special. The space was very familial and comfortable. The ability to change positions during birth and the attention that Kathy and staff showed during the process is one that remains etched in my mind.
