I am a Glenview Resident and I am signing this petition to voice support for the development of 1850 Glenview Road. The Glenview Village Board has conditionally approved the developed of a mixed-use transit oriented apartment complex on the former Bess Hardware site. We understand that while there remains lingering problems that should be addressed, downtown Glenview needs this development to ensure a sustainable business enviroment. In a age of retail sales, increased economic development in neighboring communities, and competition with the Glen Town Center, our downtown needs a larger population to support the small businesses that give our community its distinct character and provide valuable sources of incomes to our fellow neighbors. Our downtown is stalling, and we need this development to spurr activity in the area and truly build a downtown that we are proud of and can compete with other suburban communities.
