WE WON!! THE BOARD OF FINANCE APPROVED THE FULL INCREASE AND OUR SCHOOLS ARE FINALLY SECURED FOR THE COMING YEAR!! THANK YOU ALL FOR FIGHTING SO HARD BECAUSE THIS VICTORY BELONGS TO EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!! NOW WE KEEP WATCHING TO ENSURE THIS LEVEL OF SUPPORT BECOMES THE NEW …
Petition to the Board of Finance
The undersigned voters of the Town of Brookfield, CT support a 6% increase in spending on education next year. This is what is required for the schools to maintain current staffing and programs. We believe that the schools have been underfunded and are unable to meet the demands of the community, receiving increases of less than 4% (3.1% and 3.7%) in each of the past two years.
We urge the Board of Finance to give the citizens the opportunity by referendum to demonstrate what they can and are willing to afford. By reducing the funding to anything lower than a 6% increase, the residents will be denied the ability to show their support for an education budget that sustains current programs, and enables the Board of Education to meet the expectations of the community.

Our kids deserve better than this. It is time the town actually invests in the schools instead of just talking about it.

Property values go up when schools are good. This is just common sense.

6% is totally reasonable considering inflation. Stop cutting corners on our children.

If we keep cutting the budget we will lose all our best teachers. Brookfield schools used to be the gold standard and I want them to be again.

JUST LET US VOTE ON IT. Why is the board so scared of what the people want?

Too many cutbacks lately. Need to fund the programs or we are just failing the next generation.
