We the Provincial Women Rugby players want our Inter Provincial finals to be televised in 2016.

Gender equality is still a challenge in South Africa and women's rugby is no exception. We have been sidelined for way too long. We too put out bodies in the line, we may not be plastered on billboards or idolized but we too want to be recognised.

We are just as passionate about rugby. Women also live, eat and breathe rugby.

Why is it that even Mens CLUB* finals are televised and our PROVINCIAL leagues are not taken into account. Whose decision is it?

Our Final may not pull the crowds or full Loftus, Ellis Park, Nelson Mandela Bay, Newlands or Kings Park but we matter! WOMEN'S RUGBY MATTERS!

If that is the problem have us play at the Curry Cup Final, or are you too ashamed.

How else are we going to grow and develop the womens rugby if little girls don't know about us.

Internationally matches are broadcasted see link

Please sign this pettion if you believe it's time for equality in Women's Rugby.

Updates

January 12, 2016

been spending so much time reaching out to the networks and explaining why these games deserve screen time. reading what everyone is writing in the comments keeps me going because it shows im not the only one frustrated by the current setup.

January 12, 2016

im honestly blown away by how many people are backing us right now. it feels like people are finally starting to listen and realize that these games deserve to be on tv too.

I shouldn't have had to wait 27years and move continents to start playing rugby when I grew up in one of the most rugby mad countries in the world. Let's show South Africa what great athletes they're missing out on and inspire some young girls to pick up a ball

Proper exposure for the women's game is much needed. It is seen as the fastest growing sport in the "rest of the world". I use that term because in South Africa it is not. The women's game is hidden from supporter's and in many cases they are forced to play on fields away from view, in order to perpetuate the view that "it does not draw spectators". The fact is however, that if you give it decent coverage, it WILL attract many more athletes and the standards will also increase!

As a rugby player myself, I feel strongly towards this petition. Our women need to be in the spotlight, maybe not as much as men but at least a little bit more than right now. Our country is struggling with the development of women's rugby and having just lost out on Olympics, we need to thrust rugby into the spotlight. I'm guessing 80% of our country doesn't even know we he a national team, that's pretty embarrassing. If we broadcast women's rugby not only will we attract more girls to start but we will begin a solid path to secure future tournament invitations.

The only reason women's rugby isn't newsworthy is because it isn't in the news.

"The lack of female Athlete coverage makes is hard for girls to imagine themselves as athletes".... Can we recognize female athletes!
