National holiday are no longer holidays. More than half the workforce has to work these days that could better be spent with family. Labour day, Independence day, Memorial day, Thanksgiving and Xmas. Keep them holidays and special, not just another dreary workday!

Used to be everyone got the day off but now its just about making an extra buck. My kids hate that I have to miss half these days.

SO TRUE. retail workers are human beings too, we deserve to spend thanksgiving with our families instead of dealing with pushy customers for minimum wage.
