I have been hearing from so many of you who grew up with the original name and feel just as left out of this decision as I do. I am working on getting a meeting with the festival board to demand an explanation for why our history was erased without a conversation.

Seeing the momentum grow feels like we are reclaiming a piece of our hometown identity that was taken away without a real conversation. This support proves that I am not the only one who misses the history and the spirit of the original Karnival.

everyone here still calls it the carnival anyway. why pretend it changed.
BRING IT BACK. I miss the old name so much.
it was always the Korn Karnival growing up. sick of people changing our local history just to be polite.
the name change was unnecessary and dumb. keep the traditions alive.
so many good memories of the old name. stop erasing our town for no reason.

As the grandson of one of the founders of the 1932 Corn Festival, I agree completely with the renaming of the festival away from its association--real or imagined--with the KKK. Keep it the Plattsmouth Harvest Festival, as it was originally intended.
