When the kids get out of school at the end of May, many still have sports, dance etc. that go on until mid June. The weather in June is not always conducive to being outdoors enjoying all of the great camping and hiking that we love in Colorado. By the time they go back to school in the beginning/middle of August the weather is fantastic and nature beckons. Many of the parents I have talked to feel the same way about starting school so early. Some have even pointed out that it would probably save the schools money by just opening the windows and letting in fresh air in June as opposed to catching those summer colds in the air conditioned building in August. I believe that if enough people feel the same then we can change things. So if you would like to see the kids finish school farther into June and be able to better enjoy your summer by starting back at the end of August or beginning of September, please sign and share this petition!
