As a parent, I would like to understand how this decision was reached. There was no prior 360 degree feedback requested from parents and students. Are we not part of the school community? Why didn’t this start with a warning? Is there a cultural issue among the staff and administrative committee that embeds prejudice for popular, young teachers? Why weren’t other teachers with more alarming complaints not fired. Why the inconsistency in your morals and judgement? Was there an investigation on what triggered Mr. Kreef’s response? Was the student respectful? Was her behavior appropriate? Based on public consensus, she is part of an unpopular group of students. Was this behavior incited by others? Mr. Kreeft is one of St. Francis’ best teachers. Despite this being his first job, he is able to reach out to the students and impart important subject matter to the students. He is kind, understanding and most important of all, students learn from him. The students love Mr. Kreeft and respect him. My teenager is finally loving Math and doing very well in this subject, ALL BECAUSE OF MR. KREEFT. Please bring Mr. Kreef back. We pay tuition. Our opinion matters.

Wow, when so many students and parents go to the extent of organizing a petition, it speaks volumes about how much this teacher is valued by the St. Francis community. It would be interesting to see whether the petition is taken seriously or ignored. The response will reveal whether students and families are truly seen as part of the St. Francis family or merely treated as tuition payers with no voice or influence in their children's education.

Do we need to reach out to the board? Organize a sick-out? I hope that administrators hear this and this is enough, but in the event it’s not, interested in how we support our students. This is THEIR education on the line.

The consequences should have been applied to all parties involved, not just the teacher. It’s important to know whether the students who were part of the incident faced any disciplinary action, such as expulsion, or if the punishment was one-sided. While teachers should certainly be held accountable, students must also take responsibility for their actions. Accountability should be fair and balanced for everyone involved.

The love for Mr. Kreeft shines brightly this evening. The student voice is loud and cannot be ignored. To The Board, We will no longer be silent when it comes to the education of St. Francis students. Enough is enough. There are other teachers who treat students unfairly (Uhem, Mrs. Hill), play favorites (Uhem, these girls are her favorites), and make students feel stupid for asking questions. And then we have teachers like Mr. Kreeft who doesn’t have favorites, who doesn’t make students feel bad about themselves and he’s the one being fired? This is a Catholic school and the amount of bullying (students to students, teachers to students, and students to teachers) is unmatched to any public school. Public school is looking better tonight.

I believe that respect in a school environment should be a two-way street between teachers and students. While the teacher’s response may not have been appropriate, it’s important to consider the full context of the situation. If students are not held accountable for disrespecting staff, it sets a concerning precedent. This teacher was well-liked by many students and made a positive impact on their education. I hope the administration takes the time to fairly evaluate the situation and consider a resolution that acknowledges both accountability and the value this teacher brought to the school community.

I’m saddened to hear of the decision to remove Mr Kreft as a teacher. His passion to teach our kids the Salesian way is second to none. My children came home excited and inspired by Mr Krefts teaching . Your decision to remove him without consideration of the impact it will have on the student body. This is not the Salesian way. Prayers for Mr Kreft.

I have only heard good things about Mr. Kreeft. As an alumni, I wish I could have had the opportunity to take one of Kreeft’s classes. I am truly disheartened to hear about his termination, considering that the majority of the student body seemed to love Kreeft. I think it’s interesting how the administration is penalizing teacher’s negligence when there have been many instances of turning a blind eye to Teacher’s misconduct in the past. I recall the insensitive and racist meme that was accidentally inserted into the Friday Morning Live last year. The student who implemented the meme into the video faced the proper consequences for his actions. However Ms. Lemus, who was responsible for screening the weekly videos to ensure their is no misinformation or inappropriate behavior, faced no consequences. She did not fulfill her duties and as a result unknowingly spread a racist meme for the whole student body to see. Which is the same the exact thing the student did, and he faced punishment, but she was let off the hook. Now Mr. Kreeft faces the punishment of termination but the student who started the confrontation by back talking him does not face a similar penalization? This school always seems to fall short when it comes to delivering justice when it’s needed.
