Bring Bafana to Bloem
The last time Bafana played in Bloemfontein was in 22nd June 2010 in front of 39,415 enthusiastic fans. They went on to beat France 2-1 in a very entertaining match.
This past weekend they played in FNB in an almost empty stadium, the next day 2nd string Celtics and Chiefs managed to fill up Free State Stadium. Free State people deserves to host the mighty Nigerians on the 16th November.
This petition is to be send to SAFA and the Dept of Arts and Culture. We hope that the more people back our petition the better chance we stand to bring Bafana back to the City of Roses.
Stadiums such as Peter Mokaba and Moses Mabhida have held plenty of matches. We waited for 8 years to see the national team in our city.
In South Africa, Bloemfontein Celtics supporters are know for being vocal during matches. Their singing create the best atmosphere for their team, even the opposition appreciate this type of atmosphere. Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium has a capacity of 20,000 people and in the 15 games played there last season, the average attendance is 10,000. This come 4th in the league behind Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Whenever you go to Goble Park in Bethlehem, it doesn't matter who is the visiting team, there's always about 3000 spectators in the stadium. There's no empty stadium when the home team is playing there.
