Delta - I support the City reviewing the bylaw to include provisions for backyard poulty. Having grown up in the "country" and raised chickens (layers and fryers) in my childhood I might even get a few. Bylaw should talk about noise levels, permissible breeds, whether roosters are OK, allow for inspections by someone knowledgable if needed.

I had chickens when I was young. There are some breeds of chickens that make a unique pet.

a few back yard birds will consume leftovers and food waste and will reduce garbage. food waste makes up 20% of garbage picked up.

I agree and would like to see more people have the option to keep their own chickens. I dont live in Cambridge, but I used to live in a city, we moved out of the city so we could keep chickens. this isnt an option for most people and Im sure any city wouldnt really like to see their residence leave over having the ability to put their own eggs on the table.

We should be able to produce our own food as much as possible with the property we have. Not allowing us to produce our own food is taking away our freedom.

Backyard chickens are a great resource for healthy food and educational for children showing where food really comes from. I love my chickens!

Everyone deserve the right to feed themselves. A few hens for eggs in a backyard are less nuisance then most cats.

We get fresh eggs from the chickens at my husbands work. Natural and a great learning experience for kids!

allowing families to raise their own birds for eggs and meat is advantageous not only for the families but for the community as well

Owning chickens has been an amazing experience. They become pets each with their own personality, and behaviors. I love going out to the coop and just watching their silly antics or listening to them talk away. Chickens are low maintenance and they have many benefits to raising them. Manure for your garden, eggs or meat for your table and a way to teach your children about where their food comes from.

Would love to be able to keep chickens, not only for the obvious benefits, but to teach my kids how to care for them and the responsibility of knowing where your food comes from.
