Bring Back Zero Period

Bring it back

I take two electives and next year I’ll be taking three, and one of mine is a sport. It’s really important to have a zero period because high schoolers are INSANELY busy all the time and if they want to reach for the stars and focus on their dream (sport/6per elective) they are unable to because their will be no zero period. Please keep it.

My little brother attends the school and he and a lot of his classmates need Zero period to be able to keep up other classes and their extra curricular activities.

PAY YOUR TEACHERS COSTA and foreign language is just as important and critical as any other subject!

I feel that a change this drastic needs to be grandfathered in or given with much more notice and with solutions offered, not just a sudden cancellation of zero period classes. Our students already mapped out their senior year, and that poses a huge threat to their future!

Do not take away zero period. All the kids who choose to participate in activities need that flexibility. It’s about the kids.

Keep zero period kids excel with this schedule

Zero period helps students especially student athletes who put “student” first accomplish what they need and take classes they want. Without it, Mira Costa kids will be at a disadvantage. Like all things, I imagine this comes down to money. This is a mission critical part of high school and other cuts should be made in order to keep this.

Student athletes need zero period to complete all of their credits.

Considering that the school is considering spending $70,000 on new phone pouches, and spent $40 million on the new gym, I believe they have MORE THAN ENOUGH resources to continue to fund their 0 period teachers.

As an upcoming senior, and a year-round student athlete, having a 0 period is super important to my schedule. Considering how competitive Mira Costa, and college admissions is, taking a 0 period is absolutely necessary to excel in my academics. Furthermore, 0 period is a detriment to the teachers (already underpaid) who need the financial boost that 0 period brings and also have priorities outside of school that they have to attend to during the time of 6th period. KEEP 0!!!!!

Zero period is crucial for so many different students ! Ones that are in sports ones that want to focus in two different electives like my son was able to do drama and choir all four years ! Without zero period that wouldn’t have been possible ! Also for those very academic students who want to be able to take multiple AP courses ! The athletes must have it as well! Please do not take this away
