Amazing physics teacher. One of the best teachers at the school. Reinstate him so he can spread the joy of science to more children. I for one am greatful for as I went on to do a science degree and PhD. Thankyou Mr West and the other good science teachers who taught me during my years at St. Peter's.

Wow. This is so so pathetic. The man brought a lethal weapon into a place of education. He had the willingness to risk lives. Why don't you all just give him an award for shooting a student ?

Good teachers are hard to come by and often forgotten but this man is obviously very well thought of and has an excellent reputation, I say reinstate him immediately, it was an experiment gone wrong and no one was hurt, he should never have been sacked

Mr West taught me between 1989 and 1996 and I am delighted to hear his teaching style never changed. At the time he was teaching at Ely college and sixth form centre. He is a rare commodity in the world of teaching let alone physics teaching, where it's a struggle to find teachers at all, let alone those who shine like that. A teaching genius who made a silly mistake in yet another of countless days doing his very best to lead and inspire in an area he is clearly very passionate about, and that enthusiasm transferred to many others including myself. He deserves a national award, let alone his job back!

For heavens sake,rienstate this guy. He clearly has the kids education at the for front. Accidents happen. No one was seriously injured,learn by it. The governors need to grow backbones.

What a waste of talent, education and training, did he pick up a gun, aim it and shoot him in the leg? No, it was an accident. Do we sack all teachers if an accident occurs? God help all the Gym, Sports and Science teachers then. A ridiculous decision.
