An accident that the school should learn from and ensure that it can not happen again. To sack the teacher concerned is disgusting,i am sure he is more upset about the accident than the pupil may have been.I feel strongly that this experienced teacher should be reinstated as soon as possible.

It is clear this teacher is an inspiration for these young people. A teacher that generates this support is.obviously special. An outrageous decision by the school....lets hope they are mature enough to do the right thing and reinstate.

Outrageous. As if we had loads of good physics teachers. If this was the end of a series of warnings then ok but if it was a rare mistake...

Sacking Mr West is a joke he is the far bes physics teacher around he is an inspiration he helps us understand how things are done by breaking them down n knows how to keep u on track and interested in the lesson i started st peters september 1999 and when i left the school when i look back i always remeber the lessons i had with the man im now 26 and it was like yesterday i had my first lesson with him. If you dont beleve this then look at the pupils that were in his lesson and look at the grades and think how they will be i he is gone just ask the pupild hiw they feel rather than think of your self give the pupils vote because they are the ones that are and will suffer

One of the best teachers I have ever known. Captured the attention of an entire class, made learning fun. A loss for all future students.

It is very important that teachers are not discouraged from any kind of risk with pupils. They can copy safely from a book but is that education? There is a very important bigger picture here.

Pupils need enthusiastic, knowledgeable teachers! Ridiculous to suspend a member of staff over a simple accident.

r West was in my opinion one of the best teachers a child can have. He saw the potential in each child whether they were compliant or more lively!! He truly inspired my kids who were the more lively type!!! He knew just how to get the best out of each child. Truly an injustice has been done if future children are to miss out on his inspirational teaching of physics.

I can understand why people would hold that point of view on face value alone but this situation is a lot more complex - have you ever met him or been taught by him? For example the boy who was hit by the pellet, I repeat - pellet - was one of those who led the call for him to get his job back. What better testament than that. Unless you're just trolling (you didn't leave your name), I invite you to post on here again with a more fact based argument so it can be considered properly, after reading the reports in more detail.

Mr. West was, and no doubt still is, a fantastic teacher. As a former pupil, I think it is a scandal that future students will be deprived of his skill and enthusiasm as an educator. I urge the governors to think again; accidents happen, nobody was hurt, and common sense must be used. I hope for the sake of S. Peter's that the appeal is successful.

Mr West is the best teacher I ever had, is the reason I studied physics at A-level and was influential in my decision to go into teaching myself. This whole situation is ridiculous. Bring back Westy!!

An unfortunate mistake. An accident. A career should not be brought to an end because of a mistake. The current crop of students and future students should not be deprived of the skills and rewards that Mr West offers, and has proven over years of dedicated service to the school and community. He is most certainly appalled at what has happened. Give him, and common sense, a chance.
