Mr West is the definition of what a teacher should encompass. He is someone who inspires, brings fun, encourages and transforms the classroom. He teaches in unique ways that make you not even realise you're learning because you're having so much fun. He genuinely cares about the students well being as a whole and is an incredible person.

It is such a shame when the institutions forsake those that made them great in order to placate the bean counters and bureaucrats that maintain them.

The best science teacher, I am not a very bright student. Especially when it comes to science, I was on course for a D in physics. The last half term of year 11, five weeks before my exam mr west said he would take over our class. I have never mad mr west before then but knew how good he was and how his words get glued into your head. And how his experiments where facinating, i was looking forward to that half term after that news. I worked very hard at physics and really tried and that 5 weeks with mr west was the most input i had ever recieved from a teacher. I went into my exam confident that i passed, when i got my grade i saw i got a B!!! A failing student getting a high B! I was shocked a went straight to mr west to thank him for the best teaching i have ever expericanced. I think him doing experiments made me remeber his words as he related theory to praticle fantasticly. He was a real inspiration and helped me get a B in physics, he also did lots of lunchtime sessions in his time which really helped and did one for an hour on the morning of the exam. I was extreamly gratefull as he gave up his time to. Also he was a really good climbing instructor at wolf mountain and does

Occasionally, one is lucky enough to come across a genuinely inspirational personality in the teaching profession. If the current buzz-phrase 'Driving Up Standards' really means anything, then we should fill our schools with teachers like Richard West. Those who made this decision should be ashamed. Hopefully, they will take notice of the feelings of St Peters students, past and present, renounce this ridiculous politically correct stance and have the courage to admit their mistake. I know Richard will be big enough to accept their apology.

It's a disgrace what has happened to the most inspirational teachers in the school. He was inspirational precisely because he made his classes interesting and different - rather than drawing diagrams or simply describing things he used practical demonstrations which students could get involved in. What happened was an accident. It could not have been predicted and the student involved was not hurt and didn't make a complaint to the school. The head teacher, Adrian Richards and the school governors should be ashamed of themselves for their cowardice.

As a teacher myself I think this is disgraceful. Ofsted would love a lesson that was so practical. Ridiculous decision from ridiculous (Mr) Richards!

As a St. Edmund's pupil who studied under Mr West for A-Level physics ten years ago. His teaching approach was a breath of fresh air and e played now small part in my decision to study physics at university. His sacking is a sad day for the many children he has supported and would have supported over the years. Wolverhampton schools are in no position to treat it's talented teachers so dismissively. I hope common sense prevails. Good luck Mr West.

One of my favourite teachers at school and a fantastic form tutor. This guy was born to be a teacher.

I was a pupil of mr wests in the mid 90's he was a fun, imaginative, outside the box kind of teacher! I think it's a bit severe sacking him, there was no malice and it was an accident. When I was there several complaints were put in about a specific Spanish teacher that would sniff marker pens then pretend to drop them to look up girls skirts and I know he wasn't fired, well not while I was there anyway and he was a menace! Give mr west back his right to teach!

This dismissal is appalling

Mr West was one of the best teacher's I have ever had. He has been wrongly dismissed and his students (particularly those taking exams soon - such as myself) are the ones suffering most.
