Its a fairly damning enditement of the education system in this country when Richard West is sacked for Misconduct and Adrian Richards is a head teacher.

This is an absolute disgrace, even the kid who was on the recieving end has even said that this is the wrong decision. The board needs to whip themselves into shape. Westy was one of the best teachers at that school and even though I only had him as a teacher for 1 year I learnt so much from him and you can tell how much his job meant to him from his reaction. I certainly hope hr is bought back and I know so many others want him back too.

Mr West is one of the best teachers St Peters had and he doesn't deserve to be sacked over an accident- bring him back!!

Mr West was one of, if not, the best teacher at S. Peters and his dismissal is a disgrace to the school and both pupils, past and present. At school I though I was just an average student but he never made me feel like that. His lessons were always interesting and never dull, but this is not only down to his 'outside the box' way of teaching, it was his lively and encouraging personality that made the lessons enjoyable. I know little about science, but what knowledge I do know, came from him. Since leaving school and finishing my degree, I am now moving onto my PGCE course to become a secondary school teacher. Mr West was one of those inspirational teachers I have always aspired to be like, both in my personal life and career. However, if this is how such a great teacher can be treated, I will be thinking twice about my chosen career path. Bring him back.

Important to also consider what an amazing inspirational teacher he is, the brilliant results he has achieved and all those future pupils whose education will suffer without his great teaching.

I left St Peters School over 12 years ago and Mr West was an amazing teacher. Rather than just talking at the class, he would use different methods of learning - methods that actually engaged and educated the class. I think the amount of ex pupils who are shocked and disgusted by the 'sacking' speaks volumes. A lot of people hated their teachers so on the rare occasion that there is a teacher so many people liked, respected and learnt a lot from, we need to ensure they remain in education, not get pushed out over something so trivial.

As a former pupil and now a teacher (for the last 12 years), this just shows how teachers are treated with very little respect for being hardwork.

Mr. West was without a doubt the best teacher. He wad that one teacher that you knew you could turn to whether it was about work or just for conversation. He was that one teacher that would say hey to you and stop and talk in his break and lunch times, he was and still is the best teacher I know, so for the governors of the school to have done this to such an inspirational man is disgusting. it was a Science experiment gone wrong, that's science. If a child got their hair caught on a bunsen burner or spilt a chemical on their hands the teacher wouldn't be sacked, so why on earth has Mr. West been sacked? I think the governors and especially the headteacher need to revise their decision and look at what the people want, the people who actually work with this man.

The panel who dismissed this teacher should be thoroughly ashamed of their actions. Doubtless there will be no consequences for them should the decision rightfully be overturned.

Mr West made a huge difference to my daughter learning of physics. His style of teaching inspired her and helped her achieve success. He needs to be reinstated quickly so that the School does not lose a fantastic teacher and thoroughly decent person.
