Just read this in the paper. It may have been irresponsible bringing an air gun into the lesson. But this guy seems like a legendary teacher that there should be more of. The 'victim' even wants him back. I don't see the problem he's obviously been doing it a long time and accidents happen.

He never taught me, but I believe the mark of a truly great teacher is when you hear kids talking about the lessons in the corrdiors, days and weeks after the lesson happened. Working in the education sector myself now I understand how hard it is to make such an impact on a child's life, let alone the hundreds and hundreds Mr West has impacted. I did not study Physics at S.Peters, but Mr West taught my younger brother who is full of nothing but praise for the hard work and time Mr West invested in him. It is a terrible loss for the school and I pray that if reinstated, Mr West returns with his head held high knowing that he has the support of hundreds of greatful students, current and previous, behind him. You're fab! I wish I'd been clever enough to do Physics!

I'm not just saying this, as I've often said it since leaving school 16 years ago, but Mr West was the best, most patient and inspiring teacher during my time at St Peters. Not just as a teacher of Physics, but as a person, too. A great bloke. I really hope this can be resolved with some mercy. Something i feel a school like St Peters must stand for. Good luck.

An excellent teacher, the only onew who was ever able to really interest me in science at school. Shold be reinstated for that acheivement alone
