Governors - if Mr.West is sacked, the main losers will be the (a) the children - who clearly trust and rate him highly (b) the school, whose reputation will be seriously tarnished - and (c) the man himself - who doesn't deserve to have his career brought to a premature end by an act of such arbitrary political correctness..

Inspirational teachers can motivate an under-achieving child to become a high achiever. As a parent and ex-teacher I know we have few inspirational teachers without losing another due to a governing body's lack of understanding of the concept of risk and that zero risk does not exist.

Didn't know the guy personally but heard lots of great things about him. Surely the school can see sense?

I don't go to this school, but when I was at school, our chemistry teacher once lit a pupil's hair on fire by mistake. Wasn't fired, since a) He was awesome, and b) It was an accident, in that order. Sad that education is run by committee these days. Bring back the interesting teacher! There's few enough of them.
