If his own pupils believe in him, so should the authorities. A warning would do rather than a sacking.

I had the privilege of being taught by Mr West. He was a true inspiration who not only brought out the best his students academically, but also made a massive effort to ensure our development as well rounded people. He was an enthusiastic leader in extra-curricular activities and was a source of advice and encouragement throughout my time at the school.

We did a lot worse at my day in school . All our teachers would have been sacked. For teaching us to be innovative, learn by experiment and do not just read. Richard West does not deserve to end his career this way. He is an excellent supportive teacher and fires a real enthusiasm gor a difficult subject.

Mr West is one of the best teachers the school has ever had and ruining his good reputation like this over such a trivial accident in which no-one was harmed is unjust. You are taking away the excellent education he could provide to future pupils. Where does unfairness such as this fit into the Christian ethos of the school

I only have good memories of Mr West as a teacher, he always made science so enjoyable for me because he was so passionate and enthusiastic about it. I can only imagine that current pupils will be at serious detriment with the loss of such a great teacher!

The governors need to think twice about the decision they have made. No teacher at that school compares to Mr West and no one ever will. Surely experiments in science go wrong all the time.
