It's rare to find a teacher that inspires such loyalty and spirit from so many pupils, that kind of teacher should not be wasted. Accidents happen, it wasn't deliberate or malicious.

my son has been taught by him for several years and in his own words said " he's a legend he makes lessons interesting and fun" hence pupils learning more and wanting to learn more,what a shame that it has come to this,hope he gets reinstated so other kids can continue to be taught by such a fine teacher.

The fact that a teacher can care enough to stimulate his audience (captive or not) is extreamly rare and should be nurtured. Had Mr West brought in an Colt 45....then yes, dismiss, repremand etc. You'll find more danger in bunsen burners, vices and footballs. Viva la PPE and shun cowardice for we will never grow that way.

Mr west was my science teacher for two terms at St Peters and his lessons are the ones that stand out as he made sure you understood what he was teaching and that everyone was involved. getting rid of him would be way out of line as you will not find many more like him who will go the extra mile. Bring him back I say!!! ... (former pupil of St Peters) ( over 16 years ago )

It's a sad state of affairs when a successful teacher is sacked for something so petty. Hope the board of governors realise their stupid mistake and re-appoint him.

Mr west is an absolute legend. There are teachers out there who have done a lot worse than and still have there jobs. Considering it was a mere accident this shouldn't even be happening. Mr bishop would of backed him up, it's a disgrace that mr Richards isn't behind one of his best teachers.
I'm not even from the area but this school board needs to get a grip and i hope this petition helps them see that!
