BRING BACK WESTY

Mr West is a truly inspirational teacher who rather then reem off some generic text book terminology, engages his students through fun methods of learning; yes he may come across unconventional, but sometimes it takes unconventional methods to reach out to students who struggle with the conventional methods of learning. Not only does he take an interest in his subjects, he takes an intrest in his students. He's a one of a kind teacher, the type of teacher you tell anecdotes about later on in life; an inspirational man who has nurtured so many students into academically achieving young people whilst allowing them to engage with their subject in a joyous way. Bring back "Westy" not for our sakes but for the next generation that may without him; be left behind because they weren't challenged in any other way then to read from a book.

never knew this teacher but based on the praise from every person he has taught, he must of been a brilliant teacher. what they are doing is wrong.

In my view it's an understandable reaction from the School's administrators given common sense logic has been outlawed. However, Mr West's teaching methods should be commended in my view. Reinstate him!

it is very rare to find so much support for a teacher from so many pupils, lets hope the Governers listen to them

Incredibly ludicrous. Just bring him back! He was just trying to engage the students, but it seems that's not conforming to the government ideas of education, eh? The incident occurred, yes, but did not deserve such a punishment. I've heard of people in authority who have committed more serious 'crimes', keep their jobs.

This teacher needed your support in return for years of excellent service; instead he was fired. This is a sad reflection of the state of our schools today. Please consider reinstating this man.

i think its a disgrace that such a brilliant teacher has been sacked for what is an unfortunate accident. If it was a pupil that had done this would their punishment have been so severe!!

I'm a teacher. Of English, not Science, but this Mr West sounds like a superb teacher. Some years ago,a sparrowhawk became entangles in netting (while after pheasant chicks) and died. I took it into school. The kids marvelled and looked closely at its talons and beak and windspan. I taught Ted Hughes' poem, and others about hawks. They loved it -- the whole thing came alive.

A ridiculous action against a teacher who was obviously doing a good job and had an unfortunate incident

My 3 children have all attended St Peter's School and been taught by Mr West. I have attended many Parent/Teacher evenings and Mr West had a genuine passion and enthusiasm for helping students learn and enjoy Physics! This situation is a very sad reflection on the leadership of St Peter's today as it wouldn't have happened in Mr Crook or Mr Bishop's day! Whoever is responsible for this decision needs to have a good look at themselves as they have made a serious mistake here!

We need inspiring teachers and Mr West sounds fantastic. I still remember my chemistry lessons with great fondness despite the teacher exploding a flask of chemicals over my arm. No one turned a hair in those days.

A truely great teacher and individual. It is my hope that future students continue to benefit from Mr West's inspirational, entertaining and effective teaching style. He greatly helped me achieve a quality A level in a very difficult topic.
