It was not a deadly weapon or firearm, it was a pellet gun for crying out loud! This is not some socialist/facsist/communist country and actions like this only help to weaken our society and children, after all we are a gun culture and that will never change!

This chap is clearly an inspiration to young minds and should be admired, and his skills valued, not discarded.

St Peters really have made a ridiculous mistake in allowing Mr West to lose his job over an incident which has countlessly been described as an “ACCIDENT”. Being an ex student who was excluded from St Peters, on numerous occasions for situations a lot worse than this and STILL allowed to continue my education at the school, I am very surprised to see an outstanding teacher and mentor lose his job for an ACCIDENT. Had this been a pupil shooting another pupil or teacher on PURPOSE, I can 100% guarantee that no such extreme action would have been taken, a few days exclusion at most and nobody beyond the school gates would have known. So why has a teacher with countless amount of support lost his job? All those in higher positions should all feel ashamed in allowing an outstanding person not only lose his job, but also for causing him emotional stress, unnecessary public interest into his life, loss of income and possibly shame amongst family friends and his local community.

I remember a huge number of Mr West's physics lessons, and even more life lessons. He was one of the only people who I could talk to, and was a massive influence on me. This needs to be overturned. Quickly.

don't know the guy but as a fellow teacher I support him. going on the support from his pupils and the pupil concerned in the incident this decision should be reversed.

His pupils love him. He's a good teacher by all accounts. It was one accident. Sense should prevail here
