At Washingtonville High School, the WHS administration has recently hired a landscaper to cut down the tree next to the main entrance, which upsets many high schoolers at Washingtonville. Trees produce oxygen and this particular tree maintained a symbol of beauty and importance at Washingtonville High School. As a result, we believe that it is imperative that WHS students have a petition to plant a new sapling where the tree formerly was.

The traction this is gaining proves I am not the only one who misses that tree. It has been a long and exhausting process but seeing this level of momentum keeps me focused on the goal.

I wish that tree was there for the rest of my senior year. It had a lot of memories in it and now they're gone with it.

I'm an Alumni! Replace what you took down! And while you're at it plant a few more, we all know we need to protect our environment.

this tree was such a pretty touch to the school. it had been there for so long and it’s comforting to see old & new students signing for this. ❤️

This tree was beautiful! So pretty during the spring fall and summer and made you feel good entering the school! Without a tree the school looks cold, empty, and bare. Plant a new one!

I recently transferred from Washingtonville and I’m stilled mad that they cut down the tree it’s been there for generations and now they decide to cut it like it’s so rude. Furthermore climate change is affecting our area at a serious rate so replacing the tree is essential to our survival.

This tree was a staple at the school, seeing it go was just a real shame.
