The new school health reforms are absolutely intolerable. I , as a student in High School am perfectly aware of my decisions in what I eat, and these ridiculous health reforms are ruining our systematic diets. Many times I have left the school cafeteria hungry due to the small portion size and horrid taste of the school lunches. Many of our athletes require a good meal in order to function , and I find it hard to concentrate on an empty stomach. When I am left still hungry, I find that bringing snacks from home is the only solution , and these snacks tend to be chips , candy , and soda. Doens't this condradict the entire point of these reforms? I don't go a single day where I do not hear atleast 5 complaints of the lunches. Some students cannot afford to bring food from home, and they are left hungry at the end of lunch, unnable to focus in class. My parents grew up without these reforms and they managed to turn out perfectly fine. Simply because there is a minority group that struggles with weight problems doesn't mean you should punish the masses , it means the minority should have access to discreet help, this will be more efficient , affordable , and effective. Another point to prove is that seperate groups within school districts are struggling with fundraising now. We can no longer sell candy bars , jerky , or suckers during school hours, how are we supposed to raise money? I remember when school lunches were great and i couldn't be more excited for certain meals , now I dread every day in the cafeteria.

My son comes home complaining everyday about how tiny these portions are. The kid plays football he needs actual food not just a handful of carrots. Bring back the old menu!

THIS. I see kids buying junk food from vending machines or packing bags of chips just because the school lunch is so gross. It makes no sense to punish everyone like this. My daughter is starving by 2pm.
