We are asking Hays CISD to provide healthy, nutritious, filling, and up-to-date food for students. Good food is not a side issue; it is part of learning. When students have enough to eat, they can focus better, stay engaged in class, and have a fairer chance to do well academically.
Right now, too many students are trying to learn while dealing with meals that do not fully meet their needs. School food should help students feel ready for the day, not leave them distracted, hungry, or unable to concentrate. For many families, school meals are a basic support they depend on, and the district has a responsibility to make sure those meals are wholesome, satisfying, and in line with what students need today.
We believe Hays CISD should review its food offerings and improve them so they are fresher, healthier, and more appealing to students. That means serving meals that are nutritious and filling, with enough variety to support student well-being and academic success.
Our students deserve food that helps them learn, grow, and thrive. Providing better nutrition in schools is a practical step that supports attendance, attention, behavior, and overall achievement.
We ask Hays CISD to make this a priority and act now to improve the quality of food served to students across the district.
We need better food that brings good flavor and good nutritional value to us which will also help students concentrate better.
