Bring back the Google Music "5-Star" rating system

Months and months and hundreds of songs carefully rated, all to be taken away. Thumbs up/down is literally useless and meaningless to me. Will be taking my subscription elsewhere

Very poor idea, they have removed the best feature! Looks like a bunch of people in a boardroom decided I know this will make things better, but they forgot to ask the users....

The five star rating system was one of the main reasons I chose to use Google Music. Very disappointed that it's gone.

At least give the option to users, as it was before

Forcing everyone to the thumbs Up/Down rating system sounds like fun.. as an April Fool's joke. Seriously, please tell your data scientists that they're just going to have to deal with multi-class classification to learn user patterns. If they need some pointers I can suggest a couple good machine learning algorithms that come to mind: Restricted Boltzmann Machines, modified Singular Value Decomposition.. really, just look up "Netflix Prize Algorithms" and you'll be fine. Real life isn't binary anyways. Bring back 5 star rating lab.

I fondly remember transferring 5,000 song ratings one-by-one from iTunes to Google Music, and I've rated thousands more since. Please re-enable the lab, or at least send me the data so I can transfer the ratings to another music service.

As another commenter said, I'm surprised at how upset I am over this. Its as if GM suddenly decided that cruise control was no longer a feature that drivers should have. I'm now looking at other music services, where up to now Google Play Music had everything I wanted. If 5-star ratings don't come back (and restore my previous ratings!) I think someone else will get my subscription instead.

Bring back the 5 star rating lab. Music is far too nuanced to be relegated to a thumbs up or down system. I can't believe Google kept the musical yule log over 5 star ratings. Ridiculous. I am surprised how upset I am about this.

Star rating way better than thumbs

I heavily relied on star ratings. I was hoping Google would at some point add a feature to "play songs with rating >= 4" (configurable) for when you only want to listen to the best tracks. Instead they nuke star ratings. Just get rid of the thumb too, Google, how the heck are they supposed to help me organize my songs? Pro tip: I do not add songs that I don't like to my playlists, thums up/down is redundant information.

I want to see the 5-star rating both in the web and in mobile versions. Come on, Google!

Thumbs down only makes sense for radio channels where you're hearing music you don't know. Other than that the 5 star rating is a winner. My 4 and 5 stars were well organised, could always go to the 5 star when I didn't know what to listen to.
