The Rhapsody in Blue Show Choir name has recently been changed to Prestige Show Choir after more than 30 years of existence. The Rhapsody in Blue name has held a significant role in identifying the hard work and dedication of not only the talented work of Hamilton High School students, but also their parents, friends, family, past directors, school administrators, alumni, and community members. We are petitioning the current director, director of Fine Arts for Hamilton City Schools and the board of education to keep the name Rhapsody in Blue.
Seeing this much support for a name that meant so much to so many people has been exhausting and deeply humbling. The path ahead is still difficult but the momentum behind this history makes me feel like we have a real chance of being heard.

The emails I receive from alumni about what this name meant to their time here are the only thing keeping me going through the silence from the school administration. I am still working to get a meeting with the board members to explain why thirty years of history cannot just be erased by a rebranding effort. This fight is draining but I am not walking away from it yet.

My older sibling, my myself, my now adult children, and like my preteen children will be apart of this family tradition of being in Rhapsody. Rhapsody is prestige. Naming them Prestige Show Choir is in fact not prestigious at all.

The choir has a long history of success as Rhapsody in Blue. The members thru time have done a wonderful job representing Big Blue and Hamilton. Don’t stop this lineage of pride and success.

I would never have joined Rhapsody in Blue only to quit halfway through my senior year to take a computer job had it been named Prestige. It's not a good name, and Rhapsody in Blue is a great name. I remember hearing about RIB as a kid; just the name and people talking about the show; it was instantly recognizable. Keep the name.
