The council finally reversed their position and agreed to reinstate the pest control service. My nights have been spent fighting this for a long time but seeing this result makes the exhaustion worth it. Keep an eye on the upcoming service updates to ensure they follow through.

We are calling on Powys County Council to bring back its Pest Control Service.

Pests can carry diseases, cause damage to property and problems will only get worse if left untreated.

The Council’s decision to scrap its vermin control service has had an impact on communities and residents who can’t afford to pay a private contractor.

We believe the Council should do the right thing and provide this important service for residents and our communities.

The emails I receive from residents dealing with infestation in their homes are heartbreaking and prove that this service was never just a luxury. I am digging through council records to prepare for a meeting because the current lack of support is failing us all.

Seeing this level of support reminds me why I started this fight even when the council makes it feel like we are shouting into the void. It is exhausting work to keep pushing against their indifference but seeing people rally behind this service keeps me moving forward.

I am a Town Councillor in St John West, Brecon. I know from experience what a problem rats are in this area. It needs to be sorted out quickly.

I have had issues with rats over the last year in my area. I have managed to keep the numbers down by keeping my garden clean ect. But I have children and pets. I worry for their safety and there is still a huge rat problem despite my efforts.

I've had a number of rats in my garden coming from waste ground next to my property, it is overgrown and not looked after , apparently due to slow worm protection. But the rats are a problem that carry disease. Unhappy resident .

I have had a family of rats frequenting my garden despite having no rubbish or recycling laying around. Why should we pay privately for pest control when we pay through the nose with council tax!

We have recently had a rat problem and had to get someone out servers times which is costly. A lot of people can’t afford to get someone out and that means that this problem will become a big one. For goodness sake act before this causes the next crisis!

Absolutely essential service.......plagued by the blighters here. Initially living in the old oak tree stump in the hedge bordering Cerrigcochion Lane but now 9 years on they are emerging anywhere....costing me a small fortune but they keep coming back!
