Our school, JMW, Jacqueline M. Walsh School for Performing and Visual Arts High. The school has been in existence since 2005. Our English teacher Bill Ashton, has been there since 2006. He has been a great teacher since the begining. He is the teacher who will prepare us for college and treats us like we already are in college. Everyone has lots of respect for him, as he does for his students. Our school is taking part in the PARCC test and there have been people refusing, since there have been signs posted and flyers handed out. The school believes that Mr.Ashton had something to do with it and he was questioned. Then as more kids refused, another teacher spoke out and said we should take it because we would lose funding if we didn't have 95% of students take it, which scared kids and made them want to take the PARCC test.Then a rumor went around that the school would close and that scared them even more. Mr.Ashton knew this wasn't true and told his students during class advisory that we wouldn't be losing any funding, the school wouldn't close if we didn't hit the 95% of student body requirement. He also stated that HE WAS NOT SAYING TO NOT TAKE THE TEST(which he made very clear)but then one teacher during the advisory(we believe not fact!) went and told the principal what Ashton was doing, which made him be called down to the office during the middle of a class. and he was suspended with pay and then was taken back to the class to get his stuff. Mr.Ashton is the best teacher ever and shouldn't be going through this just because he felt the need to clear up a rumor that was told to scare us. LETS GET ASHTON BACK!
