Going to see the lights in Washington Park with my family was a yearly tradition for us. The year that the lights were discontinued, I recall how bummed my family had been. Ever year, we talk about how much we miss that tradition. We also miss connecting and shopping with the holiday vendors that would come.

I understand reasons cited for ending the program was traffic, noise, and park damage, it seems to me these things could be controlled to some degree. I've heard more people talk about missing it than being glad it's gone. I think it's worth bringing back.

The lights in the park were a cherished tradition for a big part of my childhood and I'm 45, my family loved going to these lights for decades. Losing this special holiday tradition is so horrible and sad.
