Afton is not in Utah last I checked. These people that commented here, are right. Our freedom as a nation should be what fireworks are for. Not another states holiday. Afton, WYOMING not Afton, Utah. Geebus

I don't feel like this decision is fair to the community as a whole. There are more than half of the residents of Star Valley who are not LDS and should not be 'punished' by not having a fireworks display on our national holiday just so Pioneer Day can be celebrated. As an LDS person myself, I would much rather have a fireworks display on the 4th of July than on Pioneer Day. Please don't give residents of this valley more reason to have issues with the LDS community. This decision by the powers that be, having been made without consulting residents, is divisive and should be reversed.

Lets get real. Why do we celebrate the 4th of July???? To remember OUR country's freedom. I think the "fear" of hurting someone's feelings are totally out of control.

I find it very unsettling that our town government would choose to celebrate an out of state religious holiday over our country's Independence Day. This is so disrespectful of every person that has ever put on a uniform and fought for the freedom of our great country.

Those funds for not only come from THE CHURCH....... Not all of us are LDS, but we are ALL AMERICAN.... Means more to celebrate our freedom than a religion!!!!!!!

Fireworks on the 4th is a national, community and family tradition for my favorite holiday. Someone abused their power and made a bad decision that affects many people. Unfortunately this situation happens far too many times in this and other communities. The good news is someone found out and is doing something proactive.

We need to join with our nation in celebrating our founding as well as honoring all the generations of vets who have sacrificed to keep us free and proud!

I too like the heritage and the attributes that are celebrated on pioneer days. But to take the fireworks away for this national holiday is not ok. We don't need fireworks on the 24 th they belong on independence day!!!
