My problem is that the Mayors took this problem on themselves and decided without any input of the public. If this had been brought up in a public forum, I'm sure we could have found a solution that works better than this one. Or, maybe we would understand the thinking behind the Mayors decision. And why not post notice of the Mayors decision as soon as it was made? It just gives local government the smell of our Federal government...

So wrong to be the only town in Star Valley with no fireworks show on Independence Day in lieu of "Crazy Days" or "Pioneer Day" or whatever you want to call it. Nothing should rank more important than celebration our own national holiday!!! Not your choice to make!!! The temple being here does not justify sneaky decisions being made to promote a Utah religious holiday in Afton, WY over INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

We all enjoy watching fireworks how ever as has been stated everyone in Afton is not a member of the Morman church. The fireworks are supposed to be for the entire community to enjoy not just the members of one church.

My husband is a USMC veteran and this has greatly upset him. I can understand not doing any fireworks for any event due to the increased risk of fire with the warm weather we have been experiencing. However, as Americans, our duty to celebrate the birth of our nation should be of greater importance than the celebration of any religious event from any religion. Moreover, if a religious event is to be celebrated, it should be funded by the respective church not with taxpayers funds, otherwise every church should be eligible for use of taxpayers funds, not just the church with the highest number of members.

The 4th of July is the celebration of the USA. Please don't take this away. Right now we all need to celebrate our Country, and those who fought, those who are currently serving, so we can live in Freedom.

Please use the funds for the 4th of July. People that want it for the other holiday can take up a collection for it. We don't have time for a collection this close to the 4th of July. Thank you.

How can we ignore one of the most important holidays of our nation? This is not right and it was not right to take away the citizens voice in this. I am LDS. I love Pioneer day but it does not, nor should it ever, replace our national celebration of independance. Shame on the powers that be for causing further division between those who are members and those who are not.

I speak for myself and my 3 kids banning and canceling fireworks on the 4th of july is unAmerican. I've put up with bans on fireworks for years and regulations on the types of fireworks we could light off not saying a word because i could go to afton and see the firework show after the rodeo like so many people do. this 4th of july is bs and i won't stand by and be quiet about this.

People already have fireworks on the 24th! Why do they need to take away from the 4th? I don't know who made this decision, but they made the wrong and have angered a lot of people, mormons and non-mormons alike.

I am outraged! You have no right to take our tax paying dollars to fund fireworks for anything other than Independence Day. The Mormons of this valley are already taking over, they WILL NOT steal our National Holiday.
