I am disgusted that the fireworks for such an important and special holiday would be allocated for a religious group instead! I am NOT a Mormon and neither are many others in this community. The mayor and other officials involved need to explain this ridiculous and completely absurd decision and have the fireworks WE paid for as a community to be on Independence Day as they should be!

This is Mormon horse shit. Lots of men died for our independence and continue to do so. Fireworks are for the national holiday on July fourth not the Mormon 24th. I was raised Mormon and find this disgraceful to our nation

This is such a disgrace. I am disgusted that this is happening in Wyoming. I half expect it from the liberal crazies, but not from Wyoming. I'm so disappointed in this decision.

Unbelievable, way to go Afton, way to go. Not everyone is a Mormon to celebrate a Utah holiday, but everyone is an American!! Disappointing

It is beyond belief that our town could use our communities money for an event that is religious...separation of church and state is a right of the people!

What religous holiday? We always had fireworks growing up. Here we go in our small community letting people not have a voice. Wake up people before it's too late for star valley

the 4th of July is more important the Pioneer Day. You wouldn't even be able to have freedom of religion if we didn't have a free country. They are stupid to take away from the celebration of our country.

I would like the Mayor to come forward and explain the thought process that went into his decision.

This is wrong on soooo many levels. I would venture to say the majority of Wyoming is NOT Mormon. Not to mention, some tourists are looking forward to the 4th of July fireworks. That is a celebration for EVERY ONE (that'd American ).
No need
Sounds to me like it's time for a new council
