I have an 8th grade honor student, I'm new to Yorkville, been in the district 2 years and I'm not happy about this. My daughter deserves a graduation. Transition to Highland School is huge and they get Nothing! Not happy!

This is complete bs for these children that worked hard and want appreciation just like teachers get a day each year for doing their job they choice to do.

There is plenty of parking available at the YMS ... they have events there for various schools at different times during the school year. If they are so worried about parking issues, then perhaps limit the amount of tickets available for the students family to 6 (parents, grandparents, & sibs if grandparents can't attend). They don't have to give each student 10 tickets like they do for the YHS graduation!

There should be a graduation. No caps/gowns. Just a walk across and diploma.

I can't believe that they would take such an important day away from the kids. This is their time to shine! If someone doesn't want to attend then that's their right but its shameful to take that right from all the others.

It would be very disappointing to not have a graduation ceremony to attend for my grandkids!

Bring back the 8th Grade Graduation, it is important to our children and is a right of passage in their journey through school. Why does one person get to make this decision when there are 420 kids in the 8th grade this year. Shame on you Mrs. Adler for taking this away from our son and his classmates!

Why take out a rewarding graduation ceremony, when life in general is so demanding? Give these kids a little extra reason to keep on going. I understand the financial aspect as well though.

When our son was in 8th grade they did have a graduation ceremony & now our daughter is in 8th grade & we will not get to see her graduation. I think they should bring it back for the kids. Our daughter says she never voted on having a graduation or not.

Sad that our children do not get to celebrate their success in education for the past 9 years. They need to know how important this accomplishment is in their life. I'm very disappointed in our district. Celebrating our educational success should be a priority in this community.
