Coach Barnett has inspired so many of the students to be better individuals through the years. Being from Luling, I have heard teenagers, young adults and even my own children talk about him and I can't remember 1 time of hearing anything negative towards him. Please bring him back!!! Sincerely, Debbie Grantham

Coach Barnett is simply the best cross country coach I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Teaching life lessons and work ethic through running is his true calling.

He has helped me become a better leader and person. His fire and intensity will make you reconsider the idea of "hard work." He has inspired me to do everything to the fullest and I want to see him continue his legacy! He inspires anyone who is crazy enough to listen!

Luling has been my home for the past 32 years, and it has been my joy to live here. I graduated from Luling in 1984, my husband in '81, daughter in '09, and the list goes on. I love our community, and see all our friends and neighbors as family. I always try to speak only positive things about our town, but somethings just gotta give with our school. Sorry ya'll but, our school(s) are broken. If you don't believe that, just look at all our kids who are going to school in other towns. There are a lot! What's so sad is, these kids are (or should be) our future. But instead of taking root here, and pride here, they are being transplanted some where else. Guess where their allegiance will be? Not here. It breaks my heart to see what is happening with Coach Barnett. He has more than proven his worth at LISD. Over and over again, it seems that our school(s) are determined to rid themselves of Luling locals. I'm not picking a fight, but I know so many qualified Teachers/educators with a vested interest in our town that are not hired to teach our kids. Or, like Coach Barnette, they can just go own their merry way with no plea from LISD to stay. Once upon a time, Luling had the reputation of excellence., I miss that. Just sayin. Oh yes, I already know that someone will comment that my son did not graduate from here, but he was bullied beyond belief, and his dad and I had to make a very painful decision when we moved him. We had to do what was best for him.

I've only been at the school for a year but that was enough to see that Coach Barnett is a legend and everyone's loves him it's sad to see him go and I hope I'll see him back in his position later this year

Coach Barnett has inspired hundreds of kids going through Luling schools over the years. He's well grounded, great teacher and motivating cosch, and an asset to the community. Dismissing Mike is not going to help LISD, but will negativily impact the future athletes by not having such an inspiring teacher who truly cares for students, explaing what outcomes of decissions will happen and how it can impact thier future, and pushing students beyond what they thought they could do to learn what they are actually capable of. If your not capable of understanding the value this man has brought to this community, then maybe the administration needs to have a damb good review. After all, this administration is what allowed the district to fall into the whole it's in now. Barbara
