My Junior year research seminar topic is Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Due to the media's influence and perception of the perfect body, teens & adults are likely to develop Body Dysmorphic Disorder, (BDD), a mental disorder which leads to obsessive and compulsive behaviors and actions. Negative body image is becoming much more prevalent due to the media putting out ideas that there is such thing as a "perfect" look, and that you need to look this certain way. This causes people to develop this mental disorder, develop depression, and to seek out many cosmetic and surgical procedures to fix "flaws" that are either minor or do not exist at all. People need to be more informed on this disorder, and the media needs to stop the spread of the idea that there is such thing as "perfect". The focus should be more on embracing your individuality and promoting healthy habits.
PREACH. kids see this stuff 24/7 on instagram and snapchat and think its real life. need to stop pushing this fake image on everyone.

The media is so toxic right now and it really messes with young girls heads. Every magazine cover makes you feel like you aren't enough just for existing. Keep up the good work.
