Doesn't sound fair to me. The past is the past. It's a new year, every student that graduates looks forward to prom. Shame on you for taking this away from them!

The students graduating this year should not have to be punished for the kids that caused trouble last year!

I went to this school, graduated in 1994 and prom was an amazing time. Please rethink this decision and possible offer a no tolerance for alcohol/drugs.

If you're concerned about the security of the school have the prom at a different venue; or have some police at the prom. Now I am not aware of the severity of the damage that was done, but I do see how it could make you second guess having another prom. As a student that attended Bluefield for all of high school and went to the prom, I do know what you're dealing with. I think part of the problem here is that you let everyone who watched the walk-in enter the school and walk around. How are you supposed to keep an eye on students when there are crowds of people everywhere? You can't. I think if students want to take photos with family, there should be something outside for them. That way they're not dragging everyone else inside. When the Rural or the Gray has prom, the people who watched them go in do not get to go in after them. To my knowledge, they haven't had any problems. Please give the kids their prom this year.

Prom is a great thing to experience and it's something that lives on as a memory for the rest of your life. I went to prom all 3 years when I went to Bluefield, the most special one was with Kyle Bambrick in 2008. So for memories like that, I hope they will reconsider the cancellation of prom.

I posted this somewhere else, and I fell it reflects my thoughts, so I'll post it here: What I love most is how negatively it portrays everyone from our graduating class. It makes it sound as though a majority of the people that attended were acting wildly out of hand, when in reality it was a minority group of students. Because of this decision, any time I mention what year I graduated from Bluefield, I will be demonized as "One of the seniors that ruined it for everyone else." I don't want to be ashamed of the class I graduated with, but that reaction doesn't inspire confidence.

There will always be a few who decide to stir up trouble, but cancelling it for everyone is not the solution. It punishes those who have done nothing wrong. Deal with the troublemakers and let the others (the majority) enjoy it.
