The new mayor of Bitez is enforcing a new rule that all the big umbrellas and all cushioned seating be removed from the beach front (except at hotels, they can keep theirs). The council is insisting effective immediately that the cushions be only on the ground and only the small sun bed umbrellas are allowed. This affects not only the beach front business owners, but also the local guests and most important of all, our tourists, especially those that come to Bitez year after year because it is unique and special.
Most frustrating of all, is we have tried to discuss this with the new Bitez council, who may not be familiar with tourism in Bitez, and have written to them in detail how this will affect the typical Bitez tourist. Guests of Bitez are generally not teenagers and have no desire to sit on a cushion on the ground under the sun. They want to enjoy the beach and the sea front, in comfort, under the shade and deserve to do so. Under this new rule, anyone with even a minor physical disability as well as the elderly, only have the choice of sitting on a sun bed or sitting on the ground if they want to sit on the beach.
As silly as it sounds, help us save the beach lounges as it is part of what makes Bitez so special. If it wasn’t, then why is it now being copied by Gumbet and Ortakent! We appreciate any thoughts you have on the matter and hope that the new council will at least listen to what the people have to say.
The momentum behind this effort is undeniable and it proves the council cannot ignore our experience any longer. Call your local representative today to demand they protect the comfort of our beaches and stop this plan before it changes our town forever.

I dont get why the hotels are allowed to keep theirs but the local beach bars cant. Seems really unfair and just greedy honestly.

FIX THIS! Bitez is one of the last places that feels authentic and comfy. Why try to make it like everywhere else? Leave it alone!

Been coming here for 10 years and this is just pure stupidity. Who comes up with these rules? Stop punishing the local businesses that actually work hard.

Ridiculous decision. My wife has bad knees and cannot just sit on a cushion on the sand. You guys are going to drive all the regulars away to other spots.

Bitez is the only reason we come back. If i wanted to sit on the floor id stay at home in my living room. This is just ruinning the whole vibe of the place.
