Billy O'Connor was a pioneer in the Canadian radio, music, and television industry. He is a true Canadian entertainment LEGEND. Despite dozens of letters of support for his induction to Canada's Walk of Fame from prestigious members of the entertainment community, Mr. O'Connor continues to be excluded from the list of nominees each year. Please sign our petition to let Canada's Walk of Fame know we want Billy O'Connor included in the list of nominees for Cineplex Legends Award, 2014.

Public support (nominations) are required by the Walk of Fame to secure the induction of a nominee onto their walk. Unfortunately, the pioneers of our industry who are no longer with us, have taken their fan base with them. PLEASE DON'T LET CANADIAN HERITAGE AND ENTERTAINMENT CULTURE FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS!

After signing this petition, please nominate Billy O'Connor for Cineplex Legends Award 2014 (under "other") at the following link - http://www.canadaswalkoffame.com/nominate

Updates

April 4, 2014

I spent the morning digging through old archives and honestly it just makes me more frustrated that we have to fight this hard for someone as influential as Billy. Most of the emails I am getting back are just people saying they had no idea he was left off the list in the first place which tells me we really need to keep pushing this out there so the board can finally see how much he still means to people.

I really never thought this would gain this much steam but here we are and it makes me think about those old recordings of Billy that have been catching dust in my basement forever. It feels like people actually care about preserving our history even when the organizations in charge seem to have completely forgotten who built the foundation.

Billy was a great Canadian entertainer who had his own TV show in the early years discovering the likes of Robert Goulet, Jack Duffy, Peter Appleyard, Juliette & Joey Hollingsworth to name a few. He continued entertaining in later years at the CNE Bandshell as well as booking all the entertainment. He is truly deserving of this nomination.

Billy was a true Canadian, he was a great Canadian Talent and helped many talented Canadians reach their potential. He entertained us for many years and I cannot understand why he is not on the walk of fame. He is one who really now deserves to receive the Legends Award.
