Last year, we rallied together and beat back a back-room deal that would have lined the pockets of lobbyists and big business with hundreds of millions of dollars, all at the expense of Jacksonville taxpayers.  We were told that it was the best deal and we said "That's garbage".

Well, that contract City Council rejected 18 to NOTHING has returned, this time as a 41 page "settlement agreement".  The number of pages have changed, but the substance is still the same.  It gives corporations millions of dollars in excess profits and keeps the city from investing in environmentally-friendly ways of disposing trash.  This is not what the Jacksonville Young Democrats stand for and we will work to defeat what amounts to taxpayer-funded corporate welfare.

Right now, City Council Members are listening and many are undecided.  This is our chance to show them what the voters think.  SIGN OUR PETITION TODAY and tell City Council to vote "NO" and make your voice heard!

"We, the undersigned, resolve that the Jacksonville City Council should unanimously reject the Trail Ridge settlement agreement and furthermore, should abide by the purchasing code and as such, bid the operations contract for the Trail Ridge Landfill."

The city is trying to disguise this contract as a settlement. It is the same bad deal we already rejected.

The momentum is undeniable and the City Council is definitely paying attention. We are keeping the pressure on until this bad deal is dead for good.

The city council needs to wake up and stop wasting our tax dollars on these corrupt deals. Enough is enough.

So sick of the back room deals in this town. Use our money for the roads and schools instead of handouts for big business.

18 to nothing before and they still try to sneak it back in? Absolute trash. Stop the landfill contract.
