The first day of school for 2010-11 in the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake School District is scheduled for Thursday, September 9th. This day is also Rosh Hashanah, one of the most important Jewish Holidays. It is comparable to scheduling the first day on Christmas or Easter. We feel this should be remedied by rescheduling the first day of school to another day.

Ridiculous scheduling. Fix this now.
This is just ridiculous. How hard is it to check the calendar before setting dates? Families shouldnt have to choose between their faith and the first day of school.

My kids wont be missing the first day because the district didnt look at a basic holiday calendar. Totally unfair to all the Jewish families in our community.
