Better buses for Whitlam - it's long overdue!!!!

After two years of explosive growth, Transport Canberra has done nothing to improve our bus services. We’re still stuck with just one bus, running only between Belconnen and Denman Prospect Village Shops with no direct option to the city or even to Woden! It’s completely inadequate for a community that’s expanded so rapidly.
Now, with the Coppin Crossing Bridge Project delayed until late 2026, Whitlam faces even more road closures and transport disruptions in the coming years and yet there’s still no plan in place to support the community.
What’s been suggested for Evelyn Scott students instead is insulting. To avoid children arriving 45 minutes late to school during a 3 week road closure and all future road closures Action Buses seriously proposed a 3 BUS, 2 HOUR journey from Whitlam to Belconnen, then Woden, then finally Denman. All because they won’t reschedule the one school bus to come just 45 minutes earlier. That’s not just poor planning it’s blatant incompetence.
And it’s not just families being affected. Commuters have no direct route to the city, despite it being only a 15-minute drive away. We’re expected to take long, inefficient detours via Belconnen or Denman Prospect every single day just to get to work.
This is not a functioning public transport system.
It’s an afterthought and a disgrace.
Sign the petition now.
Let’s hold Transport Canberra accountable and demand earlier, more frequent, and direct services for the Whitlam community.
We’ve been patient long enough. Now it’s time to be heard.
