After a situation lasting over a period of two weeks and that is still not resolved, the mauling death of two innocent animals, we the residents of Wellington, TX demand that we have a better and more efficient form of animal control. Several calls were made to the Sheriff's department and The City of Wellington regarding this pack of dogs, which consisted of 6 - 8 large dogs, and not one thing was done!
Barking dogs, dogs chained up during horrendous storms and scared to death, unattended animals, unfed animals, overpopulated conditions, abandoned, and so forth can be seen throughout the community.
We need and desire more attention to be given to our animals. Caring residents take great pain and effort in keeping and maintaining their animals and their surrounding (fencing, etc) and it sometimes can be difficult to keep an animal in a fence 24/7 and occasionally they will escape, but a caring owner will resolve the problem immediately and others just don't care.
We do our part by making phone calls and nothing is accomplished. Traps have been promised and never followed up on. Phone calls supposedly be made to the proper authorities and obviously they are not being kept either.
Unfortunately, there are animals who wind up being strays and all we would like to see happen is that these animals be protected, our children safe and all animals be treated in a caring and respectful manner by animal control personnel.
Promises, promises. We want ACTION, not promises.
