Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop:
In your 2006 campaign for Lucas County Commissioner, you twice took a "Pledge Of Ethics And Good Government To The Citizens of Lucas County." In this Pledge you stated that "I will serve the full duration of the term for the office of which I am elected to." You signed this Pledge first on February 9, 2006 and again on May 15, 2006.
In a May 16, 2006 entry on your campaign blog (benkonop.blogspot.com), you asked of your opponent, George Sarantou, "Will he pledge to serve the full duration of his term or is he, as Pam Haynam asserts, seeking to use the Commissioner's office as a springboard to run for Mayor" You wrote then that "It's time for a higher standard of accountability."
We the undersigned respectfully call on you to honor your word by serving the full duration of the term for the office to which you were elected in 2006.
Ben Konop thinks he can dodge his own promises while we just watch from the sidelines. He is hiding behind his office but his record of broken commitments is clear for everyone to see. We are keeping the pressure on until he acknowledges the pledge he signed.

I am so tired of these guys looking for the next best thing before they even finish their current term. Stay put and finish what you started!

Politicians always say one thing and do another. Stop using us as stepping stones and just do the job you were elected for.
