I've gotten a ticket for parking in an EMPTY garage to run up to the caf to grab a take out meal. If we park on the lower levels, what's the problem?

I live in Wright hall and I have to park in the parking garage under dickens. It's at least a ten minute walk, not to mention very sketchy at night.

I will pay extra to park in the Beaman

The area by the library and music buildings is almost exclusively visitor parking and is monitored relentlessly. It is very difficult for music students to park.

I got a $100 dollar ticket for parking in the library parking lot in what appeared to me in the nighttime to be just another ordinary spot, halfway into the lot facing away from the library. If spots like are restricted, the visual warning of such should be displayed more obviously. Also, how is a parking spot violation worth $100 in the first place.

The Curb garage is right next to our dorms and yet we have to walk across campus since our parking is assigned to the upperclassmen garages. It's ridiculous that the closest parking is always empty because it's reserved for visitors and teachers.

I have apparently been "misinformed" 3 different times by the Belmont Police staff. I was told I could park in a certain spot on the weekend and so I parked there for 3 months before receiving a ticket. I then asked campus security and they told me it was a mistake and I wouldn't have to pay it. Then I received a warning by email about parking in that spot the week after I was told that was a place I could park. What is the deal with all of this, where and when can I park places needs to be clarified more.

I got like 5 tickets stacked on my car because a tree fell on it over the summer and I had to get it fixed, and it got fixed months before expected so I drove it to campus, parked in a visitors lot while applying for a permit (in order to avoid tickets), but got tickets anyway. there was no where else to park it since my permit was processing. After explaining the situation, the officer was very rude to me and did not appeal any of my tickets. I owed almost 1000 dollars to Belmont...yes...after my car was nearly totaled.

I agree with all of this. There are so many students in the TK garage that it's a mess trying to find a spot there, but other parking garages are practically empty. There needs to be more order.

yes !!!!!! Takes me 10+ mins just to walk to my car and drive it round the 6 levels of the parking garage (past hundreds of EMPTY but forbidden ??? spots), when there is a full parking garage in the building right next to me (it's almost not worth driving anywhere because its so much trouble to get out). As for "specific changes" people are asking for, how about just letting us park in the closest lot to our own building?

I believe that th Johnson parking garage is too narrow. I have damaged my car due to staying in my lane and scraping on a column. Also I live in heron hall, so therefore my walk to my car is long especially when it's raining and/or really cold so I wish I had a place to park closer to where I live

I live in Wright, but I have to park under Dickens and Horrell - why can't I park in the DAC which is next to my building and often has multiple empty floors? It's a pain for me to get off campus and I don't feel safe walking all the way to/from my car at certain times.

This is especially an issue for those who are working and/or have an off campus class and have to park back in their living parking then walk to class where they're expected to be on time.

The point is to show Belmont how many people support the change that is much needed on campus and let admin hear ideas from students/staff/alumni/friends about how to change their parking situation. I promise this petition will reach Belmont's very own Jason Rogers and Officer Cunningham, both of whom are on the committee that makes the rules for parking. There just has to be enough people behind the change to make it at least a possibility. With that being said, is there anything you would like to contribute idea wise or say about the issue at hand?

I think the petition lacks action. I totally agree that the parking situation needs some revision, however I don't think this petition proposes any changes. It may need to be more specific in order to promote change.

there are many more changes that need to be addressed regarding the parking on campus, but that you for getting the discussion started!

not a student but grand daughter is...the parking system as I see it is not really student/staff friendly...really requires a little more study and needed changes...

We should be able to park in any of the available parking garages!
